Press release: April 2021
A Cumbria-based IT & communications company has bucked its industry trend for male-dominated leadership and has seen its female-led senior management team take it from strength to strength throughout the pandemic.
Online Systems, which has offices in Carlisle, Newcastle and Dumfries and offers IT and communication services to businesses throughout the UK, has a senior management team of seven, five of which are women – rare in the IT and comms industry which is notoriously male-dominated. This team has seen the company flourish despite the global pandemic, managing seven times the usual number of calls and enquiries during the height of the pandemic, culminating in winning a Gamma Channel Partner Award for ‘Support and Operations Team of the year 2020’ out of 1200 contenders.
Greg Morton, MD of Online Systems said:
“Everyone has earned their place on our senior management team through their own merit and hard work – a good number of them actually worked their way up over the years from junior positions. We didn’t intentionally set out to have a female-led team, it’s just worked out that way and we are delighted that it has. This industry has been too male dominated in the past. The fact that this team has steered us through the most challenging times in the company’s almost-30 year history speaks volumes as does the fact that we are thriving as opposed to just surviving. I’m proud of our whole team and feel optimistic about what’s to come – we’re actually continuing to expand and currently looking to recruit across all departments.”
As Online Systems emerges through what’s hoped to be the last national lockdown, it is seeing a vast increase in demand due to businesses seeking to change their phone and IT systems so their teams can work more efficiently, flexibly and remotely.
